Gut-Liver Axis
The gut and liver communicate bidirectionally through the biliary tract, portal vein and systemic circulation. For its part, the liver communicates with the intestines through the release of bile acids and active molecules. In the intestine, metabolic products of friendly, resident gut microbes also influence liver function.
Clinical studies have demonstrated the gut-liver and detoxification power of OMNi-BiOTiC® Hetox with outcomes including improved liver function and cardiometabolic parameters as well as decreased toxin load.

Adult TD2M patients were treated with Omni-Biotic Hetox (Barrier) or placebo. The probiotic intervention group demonstrated significant improvement in waist-hip ratio and HOMA-IR (insulin resistance).
"Effects of a 6-month multi-strain probiotics supplementation in endotoxemic, inflammatory and cardiometabolic status of T2DM patients: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial"
Year Published: 2018
Study Type: double blind, randomized controlled trial
Related Omni-Biotic Formulation: Hetox
Adult TD2M patients were treated with Omni-Biotic Hetox (Barrier) or placebo. The probiotic intervention group demonstrated significantly decreased levels of endotoxin, glucose, insulin resistance, triglycerides, total cholesterol and total/HDL-cholesterol ratio compared to the placebo group.
